Re: Are you using stock photography?

Perhaps this could be a good thread to put up some good arguements to clients as to why to pay for stock images or of good free sites anyone knows...

Re: Functional Portfolio

Always better to avoid the stale, traditional portfolios in my opinion. This is a great idea. Through doing it your showing your thought process in the actual structure of the portfolio. I'm not an employer but if I was this would be the type of thing I'd be looking for

Typeface

What do you consider to be the best typeface, or which one pulls your strings. Personally I can not decide though I have a few favs; Gill Sans, Transport, Caslon, Syntax, (frutiger & futura obviously) - I also wondered if anyone had a font they thought perhaps to be a little unknown, you may wish to...

Re: 2025 Design

Hi Rob, Maybe try e-mailing a few futurologists. People stuck in academia will be of most use to you. The likes of Kraft won't be because they won't knoe themselves. You probably panicked them. Also maybe worth looking into printed food. Get your hands on Febs Icon mag, there was a good feature in t...

Re: Pinterest

It is an interesting situation. Whilst it brings forth a ton of opportunity for three dimensional products it's an issue for our two dimensional friends. just came across this rather interesting article; http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204792404577225124053638952.html If they get to cr...

Re: learning about history

Hello Kit, Firstly my commendation on deciding to learn about design history. I have seen a lot of people not seem to give much care about it. They go onto to design something done around 100 years ago and theink they are the bomb. At first I'd just get my hands on a basic round up of contemporary d...

Re: Pinterest

I had the exact view on it until a friend told me how useful it is the other day. I find it useful in the same way -brilliant if you find a bunch of really interesting stuff and just want to keep a visual note for later and no need to download a ton of images - I think it is still in its infancy
