Re: Online product configurator/customizer examples?

I've seen some good demos from Cl3ver 3D. If you want something with integrated eCommerce, you might need a custom solution.

Re: Solidworks industrial design and subd modelling tools?

I've had a demo of the Solidworks-ID, and looks like a big workflow issue integrating data into Solidworks for detailing. You be better off using the power surfacing plugin integrated within Solidworks. http://www.npowersoftware.com/NewPowerSurfacingOverview.html If you are looking for sub-D in a CA...

Re: Photo enlargement

If you are doing large format printing, meaning poster size, you can get away with 100-150dpi for your image.

Re: Solidworks - required subscription service?

If you don't purchase the subscription services right away i believe you are entilted to 2-3 months of full techincal support through your reseller, as part of the end user condition agreement. Might of been changed/updated, basically allows you to fully test drive the software/services incase you f...

Re: Design Review Software

I think that the end solution will utilize 360 degree turntable renders as the basis to create the illusion of 3D. With the KeyshotVR it looks like you still have to embed the resulting HTML into a webpage. Ideally I could just open the file in an app, without the worry of upload, client device or b...

Design Review Software

When not presenting a physical prototype, what are some good options of software to be used for design review. I'm looking for something that is similar to 3D CAD viewers with visuals closer to renderings, and simple enough to have clients spin around on their ipads.

Re: Ready for 4th Dell Precision...worth the upgrade?

Why another laptop? You already have a mobile setup that can be used in a pinch for onsite work. I would look at getting a precision tower to park at the office. Spec it out speed up the rendering, and use something like gotomy PC combined with dropbox for remote access when needed.

Re: Folding pattern software/plugins/analysis?

Maybe the exact flat plugin is what you are looking for. If you are to start with initial shape in 3D, you can extract and flatten the surfaces, similar to a pattern making process.

Re: Solidworks - Mesh / Isocurve view

Another option would be to convert your surface to Sub-D with the Power Surfacing plugin to display the underlying iso-cuves. There is always face curves inside Solidworks as well. http://help.solidworks.com/2012/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/HIDD_DVE_CONVERT_ISO_CURVES.htm?id=1af44d34ac3a4e5c926f944e...

Design from the GRID

Design from the NVIDIA GRID, that is. What are the thoughts out there on moving the computing horsepower to a server solution? Is the cost savings on individual workstations and dedicated software licenses worth the investment in a server? http://www.nvidia.ca/object/visual-computing-appliance-featu...
