Re: Chris Bangle’s Red EV

Homer car I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this! I will say that the exterior has grown a bit on me and watching his videos explaining the interior helped me appreciate it more. I still think it's got to many ideas in one place, there doesn't seem to be a visual hierarchy to the exterior, ...

Traveling to Toronto!

I know this is super late notice, but I'm heading to Toronto tomorrow morning, I'll be there from Friday to Monday morning. Are there any cool things I must do? Designery things that are can't miss? Things that aren't worth it? (I'm thinking of going to the footwear museum, thoughts?) I'm staying ar...

Re: Mechanism for a rocking and turning chair

It depends on what you're looking for (a big recliner that does that vs. a side chair in an office that does that) but either way there is some division of Leggett and Platt that will handle that. Here's a link to the home furnishing components division:

On a side note, someone had fun with this shower head. I would love to bathe in Lord Vaders tears... http://s7d2.scene7.com/is/image/BedBathandBeyond/68065944433789p__2?hei=395&wid=395&fmt=jpg&qlt=85,1&op_sharpen=1&resMode=bilin http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/oxygenics-reg-star-...

Re: Vehicles spotted in your neighborhood

I think the 993 was the great Porsche ever made. Love the 356. Too bad they are so expensive now. The owner of the 356 was great to talk to, an older German man. He made a point to tell me that he drives that car all summer long and has the rock chips to prove it. Which on some level made me cringe...

Re: Hit a road bump. Any advice? [Can't start major]

No worries, I totally get the frustration, much of my professional career up to this point has been at a place with no designer before me, many people every day tell me "that will never work here" or "we're not X, just do whats expected"; I try not to give them much thought, instead focusing on prov...

Re: Hit a road bump. Any advice? [Can't start major]

While I have no guidance on which colleges on the west coast may suit your needs better, I think Aaron is dead on in regards to your current school. Go find the department chair, explain your situation, there should be something you can do to get around the work shop (or make it up on top of your cl...

Re: What's it like as a lone Industrial Designer?

I've spent the past six and a half years at a place as the only (and the first) in house industrial designer. As above, I wish that I had read a thread like this as soon as I came on board. Also in the same line as the above poster, I came on board as an intern at first, then a "staff" designer (rea...

Anyone Heading to Chicago for NeoCon?

As the subject states, I'm heading down for one of the days (maybe into the night a bit) to look around and do complimentary market research, but would love the chance to meet up with other designers and grab a drink. Has anyone heard of any ID focused after parties? Anyone heading down on certain d...

Re: Front Page Current Discussions missing?

Every now and then it'll load at the very bottom of the page for me, though a quick refresh of the page (and then waiting to scroll down until the page is fully loaded) gets it back in the correct place on the side of the page. Don't ask my why, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it's tied to my out...
