Re: EmanMade – Beginnings of a YouTube channel

Hey Eman, there are definitely not enough product designers on YouTube, the more the better. Here's my two cents for what they're worth: Product designers are well known for being perfectionists, but as long as you get the basics, good sound and interesting imagery, story etc, YouTube is fairly forg...

Re: Mechanical Engineer - work more or grad school asap?

Hi Ranuak, I always think that the more work experience you can get, the better it will look on your cv. Being from the UK, I don't know what Georgia Tech, Scad or SVA are like, hopefully one of the other board members will be able to help you out.

Re: Students of Product Design Youtube series

Hi Choto, I spotted this the other day and wondered the same thing. I definitely won't be painting the town red and clubbing until 4 am, these days the best a fella can wish for is a nice glass of wine and an early night :D or I might treat myself to a new pencil, a rotring or something, nothing cra...

Hey Gmay3able

Thanks for the reply, I've looked in to Patreon, which seems like the future, I wish I'd found it at the start of this series! :D PT

Re: Students of Product Design Youtube series

So here's the next one, I thought I better do another prototyping and model making episode, before getting in to my next video which will be on giving presentations. Hope you guys find it useful.

Re: Students of Product Design Youtube series

Thanks modern man

FH13 thanks for the great feedback, you've given me a lot of good stuff to think about, I was thinking of possibly making longer videos, but it will be a lot easier to make shorter ones (with close-ups)!

Re: Students of Product Design Youtube series

Hey guys, here's the next episode:

A few people have mentioned that the sound is a bit quiet, I am having a few technical difficulties, bizarrely after I upgraded to windows 10, but there's not much I can do at this point, so as always will try to improve everything in the next episode

Re: One Handed Tripod

I took a quick look at your blog and didn't see it... are you going to share some of the process with us ;) Eventually I will, got to sort out a few things first, as mentioned by everyone above, the long cables being first on the list. As this was an iterative prototype, I didn't build it as simply...

But in your next video please don't have a buffoon setup the normal tripod.

Sorry Iab, will try to drop the 'oon' and just be more 'buff' in the next video!

One Handed Tripod

So here's my latest project, probably been done before, but couldn't find anything on it. I would love to hear what everyone thinks, there's loads of improvements to make, but I'm quite pleased with the prototype:

Ha, definitely a Tank top!

@Pb - hopefully a few things in the video will help you with your training shoe design, you can't beat observing how the light works on the materials on existing shoes, there's always prior art!

Re: Photorealistic Renderings

Hi PB, I am suggesting a gradient which I think will help, but looking at the rendering again, I don't mind the blue, but it's the fact that it covers the whole page, putting it in a box behind part of the design, not all of it, will hopefully help - if you do this you may have to sacrifice your ref...
