Re: Bepster's Portfolio review

WOW. your portfolio is stellar. i have to agree on the fact that the two newest projects feel way more professional, and that the others feel more studenty (namely the lamp and the heatcooler. they both are very nice, they just dont have the level of refinement the newer work does.). Honestly, I wou...

Re: University Help :/

As a recent cincinnati grad, I cannot recommend it enough. Having almost 2 years of experience of working in actual studios around the world made finding a job post-grad simply not a problem. It's a little more difficult to find a place that's a good fit, but everyone in my class who worked hard, ha...

Re: Favorite portfolios

I have a whole archive of portfolios i've collected over the past few years, but there's some great ones from students who just graduated from UC: Ben Zavala: http://www.benzavala.com/portfolio/ Travis Wettroth: http://www.coroflot.com/Travis_Wettroth/portfolio Victor Khramov: http://www.victorkhram...

fine dining in space

Hi core! I just wanted to share my latest project (and senior capstone!), matterware, fine dining in space. I wanted to tackle something fun and futuristic, and I think that creating exciting new experiences for space tourists is a completely unexplored area. I put together some long scrolling pages...

Re: University of Cincinnati Senior ID Class of 2014

Justin- Thanks so much for the support and kind words! If you find you can make it out and maybe want to be a guest critic, just let us know. Robbie- So cool to hear that you saw it from Rance! Thanks for the wishes, and the show should end up being pretty great- there are some really cool projects ...

University of Cincinnati Senior ID Class of 2014

Hi Core77! First of all, I hope this is the right forum for this post, but I think it's relevant enough to the design community to be posted here. I just wanted to share some information about the upcoming senior show and graduating class for Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati. In cas...

Re: UC Senior Portfolio

Hey Eman! Cool to see you here! How in-depth would you go in a "teaser" portfolio that encompasses a lot of projects? Could you have like 1 page with text explaining the project, then sketches then renders, or would that come off as too superficial? I guess with co-op and all that, we've never neede...

Re: UC Senior Portfolio

IDAL - I totally didn't realize that you were talking about the PDF- your feedback makes a lot more sense now :) It was definitely a challenge condensing these really "big" (research and thinking stuff) projects into small summaries, so it seems like I have a little more 'splaining to do on some of ...

Re: UC Senior Portfolio

IDAL - thanks for the positive feedback! It's kind of weird, since I've had some of these projects in my portfolio for so long (especially the UPS device and the sandwich cutters), I totally didn't realize they came off as confusing, especially in the coroflot. It definitely makes sense to try and r...

UC Senior Portfolio

Hi Core- It's been a while! I've spent the past year working and studying abroad.... but now I'm back and am getting ready to graduate in a semester! :D As I start to gear myself up for the job search, I was hoping you all could take a look at my PDF and coroflot portfolios. I'm still trying to get ...

Re: Junior Portfolio Feedback

Hey Rance!! Looks great!! In addition to what other people have said (especially trimming down the playground project a bit)- 1. shrink the description text on most pages. I think this will help with the lack of white space and make things feel even more organized. 2. The harmony logo is a little mu...

Re: Design schools for poor people

@Ineo Thanks. I've been leaning towards the west coast cause I have a friend out there who loves it but I wouldn't really know until I visit the campuses. I keep hearing great things about UCincinnati. How is the Cincinnati area BTW? I checked out your portfolio and see you do a mix of Industrial a...

Re: Design schools for poor people

You might want to look at some state schools- they tend to be cheaper than art schools. I go to Cincinnati as an out of state student, and that's still cheaper than nearly every other design school. If you can get in state tuition, it becomes even more affordable. You should also check out Virginia ...
