Seeking ID related work in Denver, CO

Hey guys, I'm currently working a full time gig in the midwest. My current job is great, lots of variety, great clients, great coworkers, but mediocre pay. The real bummer is the location. I hate the midwest. I grew up here, and it seems that most people just stay in/have babies/do nothing, post sch...

Re: Studio Audio Solution for streaming music from multiple

Spotify doesn't really allow us to play MP3s or stream from websites like hype machine or indie shuffle.

Studio Audio Solution for streaming music from multiple user

Hi, this is a random question that isn't totally related to design, but is related to a studio work environment. We recently DOUBLED our studio space because the design department has been doing so well (woot!). Prior to this, a set of high-end computer speakers at various desks allowed people to pl...

Industrial Design in Colorado

Outlook good or not so good? I'm about done in Wisconsin. I've worked for Milwaukee Tool, Harley, Briggs & Stratton, and tons of other clients in around here, things have been good, but I am sick of living where I grew up. What's the word on the street in Denver/Boulder/Ft Collins? I feel like I hav...

Re: 1HDC - Topic Suggestions

That's definitely a design problem, but I think it's worthy of a bit more than 1 hour of sketching, no? Seems more like a design contest without such limited constraints.

Re: 1HDC - Topic Suggestions

Okay, I'm bored and want to flex some design muscle. Since it's summer, and there's a drought around here... how about fire extinguishers? Those are boring looking, should be easy to make some fun stuff.

Re: Pissed off about crowd sourcing design contests

The problem is most truckers don't own the trailer, and they tow various trailers belong to various companies. My senior thesis was about low cost aero add-ons for existing tractor trailers, so I'm familiar with the territory, somewhat. http://gruvdesign.net/misc/thesis1.jpg http://gruvdesign.net/mi...

Re: Pissed off about crowd sourcing design contests

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have dropped the f-bomb. Point taken. However... I've never seen a company have such balls before. Typically these crowd-sourced brainstorming activities result in a mixed bag of half-baked ideas, but they went so far as to create a skeletal CAD file, so that you are desig...

Pissed off about crowd sourcing design contests

Just read that Peterbuilt teamed up with Local Motors to redesign their new truck. :| My comment in the link below sums up how I feel about this:

Re: IKEA takes on CE

I really don't understand this. When technology changes, you will then be stuck with a piece of furniture that cannot be upgraded. If 3D ever becomes mainstream, if connections change, all of this will mean you'll have to buy an entirely new piece of furn.... oh wait, I see what they did there. :? N...

Sorry, yes, transparent, though I think when it's machined to 1 mil even translucent would work.

Need help sourcing translucent plastics.

So I'm in charge of producing two prototypes, that call for a translucent piece of plastic that will be milled and polished out. Thing is, I don't want just a generic smoke or tint, I want something REALLY dark, as it will be milled to about 1mm thick in front of an OLED screen. I'd like either jet ...
