Re: Bike tool/bottle opener Kickstarter- Bring on the critiq

Wow. I had that same exact idea about 4 years ago, except in the middle were 8, 9 and 10mm openings for bolt heads!

I like the bottle opener better, but I think you should extend a handle down that doubles as a tire lever.

Weird how you can wind up around the same place in design.

Re: Industrial Design and Crime

Here's a design solution for the gang violence: backwardsgun.jpg If you feel insecure about design now, just wait til you visit a Chinese factory! :D There is life after design. I felt the same way about designing mass produced landfill, so I wound up quitting my job and returning to the family bicy...

Re: Bicycle Seats Need Design Help.

In the store I work at we have "devices" from both specialized and bontrager for finding this measurement. Sometimes they work pretty well, and other times they don't work at all. Exactly my point. Getting comfort from a bike seat is completely hit or miss. Why does everything need to be perfect in...

Re: Bicycle Seats Need Design Help.

Thanks mo-i. I'm on a mission to create the greatest shop there ever was or will be. :) To Slippyfish's point I agree there are many factors involved for a proper bike fit and those will come into play, but if you pull out almost any bike in my store the saddle is complete shit. I don't have a big b...

Bicycle Seats Need Design Help.

Hi Gang! Been awhile since I posted. Having left the design community in favor of bicycle shop ownership I've come across a glaring hole in the bicycle parts market: SADDLES! Granted, there are hundreds out there but they all share one common feature which is PAIN! Seriously, how can there be all th...

Re: Goodbye I.D., Hello bike shop!

Flip the stem? C,mon now this is my first real road bike. I was a mountain biker in a previous life, and I'm still adjusting to drop bars! The circular display is hard to capture in a photo, but there are three of them in a row covering the support posts in the middle of the floor. This allowed me t...

Thanks. It works well, except some of my shorter employees have a hard time getting the hanging bikes down.

Re: Goodbye I.D., Hello bike shop!

Hi people! Sorry, I've been so busy with the move, house renovations and shop renovations that I haven't had a moment to post on Core. The shop has been a lot of fun so far. I think the best part has been trading my hour car commute for a 15 minute bike ride. It's also nice to be unchained from a de...

Re: Goodbye I.D., Hello bike shop!

The shop life is sweet! My hands are always dirty and I wear the same style of t-shirt every day. :D I ride to work almost daily and love interacting with customers again. I miss my Pro/e but I surely don't miss being chained to a desk all day. I went to Interbike in Vegas last week and drooled all ...

Re: Goodbye I.D., Hello bike shop!

So, where exactly is between Chicago and Milwaukee ? Racine? Close! It's in Zion IL. Luckily we are only a few blocks from the Zion Metra station, so anyone coming from Chicago can take the train. Any I.D.er that walks into the shop will get an automatic discount. :D I'll take a look at those shops...

Re: Goodbye I.D., Hello bike shop!

Thanks, I'll be there in September and I'll totally hook you up. Back in the early 1990's, when mountain biking was really taking off, I convinced my folks to order the very first Manitou suspension fork. We became the only shop in the area to carry the high end stuff and it continues to this day. S...
