Creating an internal portfolio for clients

I've been tasked to create a 'middle ground' portfolio or an internal document we can quickly send to clients. Allow me to explain... We have raw sketches, photos, and renders from various projects scattered all over many computers. The problem with this is sending a zip file full of random images t...

Re: When Design Goes too far....

Perhaps I am nit picking here, but I cannot stand the way you start some of your articles with a blanket statements about designers. A year or two ago, I remember reading your post on gifts for Christmas and it started out something along the lines of "As designers we take gifts seriously. Very seri...

Re: portfolio site feedback

Technical Feedback: - I'm on Chrome and your website takes a really long time to load. I was looking through your code and your BG image is 1.8 mb (which is crazy). I would re-size in photoshop and make sure it's at 72dpi and click "save for web" next time. - You also have a 5px by 5px artifact tha...

Re: shoe concept I'm working on

Right now it is just lines. What does it do? Who is it for? What type of retail distribution might it have? Pricepoint? Materials? How is it made? I guess I'll just post the concept. Might as well get a crit out of it as well http://www.jeffmullerdesign.com/acidpreso.jpg http://www.jeffmullerdesign...

Re: shoe concept I'm working on

It is amazing he difference a word makes. If you had said they were doodles, or even sketches, we might be talking about proportion, composition, lineweight, but because you said concept, then I expect there to be a real idea there, a story based onthe market with relevance to the way people live. ...

Re: shoe concept I'm working on

Right now it is just lines. What does it do? Who is it for? What type of retail distribution might it have? Pricepoint? Materials? How is it made? My apologies. Im not quite comfortable posting the actual concept. I should have just asked for a critique of the sketches. Thought this was the correct...

portfolio concept need crits

http://www.jeffmullerdesign.com the concept goes as follows ice is the design side. the cold, hard, and precise nature of design. the fire is the art/illustration/photography side. the messy, artsy touchy/feely way i go about creating art. i use both disciplines together and that's how i like to pre...

nice, but try some with perspective, not only the front view. keep going As someone with bag design experience I think sketching in perspective is only necessary when you are still deciding on the silhouette and general purpose or nature of the bag. I must say that it is rather time consuming to sk...

Software for pattern making

I work for a company that manufactures life jackets and apparel. Thus far I have been using Illustrator and sending files to China. The problem with illustrator is that it doesn't output exact measurements and it can't spit out a volume. My boss feels that we could do all of this in a CAD program. I...

cintiq vs tablet pc

My boss asked me about updating our technology because of our new budget. YAY! I had mentioned to him that cintiq's are pretty sweet, but I also brought up tablet pc's. Now I know that a Cintiq pretty much beats the crap out of a tablet. However, it's hard to bring a Cintiq with you to China and tra...
