Re: New mainpage interface

I'd like more density with the articles too. I do like the added white space. It breathes a bit more, which is always nice.

Re: Tesla Model Y

That new Elantra is stunningly bad. The weird thing is the hatch looks great. https://www.carhelpcanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/2018-Hyundai-Elantra-GT-front-three-quarter-01-678x381.jpg From the outside, I think this thing looks as nice a Golf. I don't understand why US oriented models alway...

Re: Vehicles spotted in your neighborhood

Supercars just bore me (as a middle class guy that can't afford one). Mind you, I had the 911, Testarossa and Countach posters when I was a teen. There were basically three supercars when I was a teen, now there is at least 10. Moreover, Ferrari has gone from selling hundreds of cars to thousands. I...

Re: Suzuki Jimny

VW Beetle is awful in everyway, but I think it's a car everyone should drive. I've looked at getting a Super Beetle convertible as a summer car and I'm sure I would adore it. I see the same things in the Jimny. It's like a modern VW Thing.

Re: Tesla Model Y

I think a lot of people do have the technology, but it's a big change. It's like a steam train company changing to diesel. 60% the same, 40% completely different. Audi is launching the e-tron GT, a direct Model S competitor later this year, and a SUV (I think model X compeitor) any month now. Jaguar...

Re: Tesla Model Y

I find Tesla a difficult topic as a designer. The fact is, there just isn't much here to discuss. The S had drama, but is starting to look old. The 3, X and Y could all be 5 year old Hyundais. Now, I understand that from the start-up perspective. They were bringing a new technology to market with a ...

Re: Why did you choose your school?

I chose ASU because of location and scholarships. It's a great school, but I think I would have prefered a place like Cincinnati that has more co-ops.

Re: Running before walking.

I've read some studies that show the higher someone rises in their career, the more they feel like a fraud. Every time I find myself feeling like like a fraud, I get a smile. It must mean that I'm getting further in my career!

Re: Worst concept to production car fails

That looks like a very successful transition to production. I like the bumper on the concept more though. Why do we always need to add some more chrome and fake cut-outs in production?

Re: Worst concept to production car fails

I think the giant, "FIAT" on the back might be too much. I do love that the 4 bars are back on the grille. I miss those! Weird thing is that the Fiat looks closer to a production car than the Honda. Come on Honda, add a little more concept back into that Urban EV!

Re: What does it take to be a great design lead/manager?

Also, I notice that managers really like numbered lists lol! 1. I write a lot of email to Asian suppliers and numbering the list makes it more clear what I need them to do. 2. People that make lists get things done and less prone to forgetting. Even if their (my) desks are messy. 3. I have to be ca...

Re: What does it take to be a great design lead/manager?

KPIs: 1. Simple one is how many projects are completed and how many are active per quarter. I know that this varies on complexity, but you'd be surprised at how much it evens out over 3 years. The value in it is just seeing what your through-put is and how it is changing. It will also give you an in...

Re: Worst concept to production car fails

After looking at bigger pictures, it's not bad. It still feels like it started as a Mini and is slowly turning into a CR-V.

Re: Worst concept to production car fails

Ouch, they are making it a Fiat 500 (in a bad way). The four doors ruin the proportions too. Ugh! BTW: The round tail lights are clearly a result of focus groups. Lights used to be round on the front and square on the back, which gave this concept a geeky retro Japanese car look. Now, some non-desig...
