Re: Longest continuously manufactured products

How about instruments? The iconic Les Paul comes to mind. Started in 1952 and still going today. Les really nailed the shape from the beginning. ( Guitarist will probably bark at this saying the new ones are not even close to the models in the 50s 60s) :) https://reverb.com/news/a-les-paul-from-ever...

Interview About Designing Moto Gear

Interesting interview from Transworld Moto with the Creative Director for Troy Lee Designs, Maki Ushiroyama. TLD makes apparel and helmets for motocross and mountain bikes. I like what he said about presenting his work to sales, if they immediately love it he probably hasn't pushed the designs far e...

Re: Wacom Cintiq

Savage, I have the exact same MBP. I know you said you worked on large assemblies with no lag or problems. What type of assemblies are you working on and how many components on average are in your assemblies? BTW, thank you very much for all of your input Savage and Andy. I work on audio products t...

Re: Wacom Cintiq

It seems to have decent power. I have never had it lag on large assemblies. However there are some display and driver issues that occasionally arise.

IDSD Speaker Series: Allen Young - The Secrets Of Crowdfunding Your Own Product To Market (January 27th 5:30-7:30) Most industrial designers dream of designing their own product and releasing it to the world. One of our very own IDSD members, Allen Young, has done that...twice just last year. His tw...

Re: Precise prototyping tool for LEDs?

Any thoughts on these questions? So if a board has 6 PWMs, would I only be able to control 6 LEDs? This is probably a elementary question but I know nothing about the details yet. Other than PWM stands for pulse width modulation :) Or would the number of LEDs be limited to the number analog inputs?

Re: Precise prototyping tool for LEDs?

That should work, but the R3 only has 6 PWM pins, if you decide you want precise control of the 8 LED's for things like fading. You can see a list of boards that have more PWM options here: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/arduino-comparison-guide So if a board has 6 PWMs, would I only be able ...

Re: Precise prototyping tool for LEDs?

Thanks guys, looks like I should buy an Arduino and some leds. Would the Ardunio Uno R3 be a suitable board for this project?
