Re: The Lumi Process: Photographic Printing on Natural Mater

Originally we started developing printing techniques for our own use. We had been experimenting with the idea of photographic prints on leather, wood, linen, etc, throughout the first year of development. Re: The Lumi Process: Photographic Printing on Natural Mater

Thanks choto. The video was a collaboration with our neighbors at Sandwich Video. We came up with the idea, picked the music and some of the visual elements. They shot, directed and edited it. It was a lot of fun to make!

The Lumi Process: Photographic Printing on Natural Materials

Here's a 1 minute video I did the creative direction for, that quickly explains the process: [vimeo]http://vimeo.com/45725193[/vimeo] https://vimeo.com/45725193 Though I'm not the most frequent poster, I've been involved in the Core 77 community for a while. From when I first discovered I wanted to ...

Re: Student Blogs

Hah! Couldn't have made it without you.

Getting lots of emails from car enthusiasts who want me to put Dexter into production. Certainly food for thought!

Re: Student Blogs

@oystein Thanks for the compliments! Congrats on getting in to Art Center, I think you'll have a lot of fun. I just updated my blog with a list of the main courses I took at Art Center. I think it will be a useful reference for you as you look through the curriculum: http://studio.angoulvant.net/ I ...

Re: Lumi, a new printing process

Thanks for all your feedback! We're taking all the comments into consideration and reworking our video. We fully understand the serious tone that needs to be communicated. In the meantime we think the products will speak for themselves and have updated our fund-raising page with photos of one of the...

Re: Lumi, a new printing process

Thanks for the words of encouragement! This process only works on natural materials so materials like HDPE or PET are out, unfortunately.

Re: Lumi, a new printing process

We can do ceramic but we have yet to try stone. Metal does not work, however. We're also able to do multiple colors in multiple passes. Theoretically we should be able to do full color but we're still experimenting with that. Our blog has some pictures but we'll continue to add more. I'd love to sho...

Lumi, a new printing process

I usually hang out in the student and schools forum, but I thought I'd pop out of my regular bubble to talk about a new project of mine. Along with a fellow designer, we've developed a new printing process which works on almost any natural material. It's fundamentally different from everything that ...
