This is one of the coolest watches I've seen... Sorry for the blurry picture, but my girlfried took it with her camera-phone and it turned out really bad:

Image

It pretty much consists of a vertical bar under which the numbers rotate. The person wearing it got it from Singapore, doesn't even know what the brand it. Does anyone here have any idea?

EDIT:

Here's an illustrator mockup of the watch:

I'm digging this classic design, which a previously though only was sold in an travel clock product:

This retro Seiko is another one I like:

And then for pure utilitarian purposes, a mechanical chronograph with a center minute hand (the one shaped like an airplaine) is pretty nice:

(Sorry for the large size image.

What time it was and what time it's going to be? What's that supposed to mean? Can't you assume that if it's 10:30 that it was recently 10:15 and will be 10:45 soon? Anyway, I love my watch.

Not insanely high prestige, but I get lots of compliments on it, I'm personally not into the Tag Heuer over technological 20 hands watches.

I was pretty impressed by Nixon's portfolio of watches. I picked this up a few months back:

totally redesigned and unheard-of movement, created to mirror the engine layout of the Bugatti

Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Type 370-
watch of the year 2006

the watch face is turned to lay perpendicular with the plane of your wrist
when you're driving at 200+mph, the face will be facing you, so you're not required to take your hand off of the steering wheel when you want to check the time (I think I would be more focused on driving than the time, for what its worth)

cg - nice watch--it has all the inaccuracies of a mechanical watch, combined with the lack of time "feel" of a digital watch :) But I'd still like it.

Here's one that I think is great from a task analysis perspective. Yes, it's a rough prototype, but I like the idea of knowing "how much time until...?" question being answered--something no other watch does well or at all:

Saw that one at the Portland Process show a few months ago (designed by Cinco design here in Portland). Super nice! A little spendy, been eying it...

I was a toss up, really...

But I compared the $233,900 price tag on the Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti, to the $300 Nixon. In the end, I thought the Nixon was just a bit more reasonable.

I like this guy too...

Maybe some day.

your right, I shouldn't be a such a cheap skate and practice what I preach. How is it holding up? If it holds up well, I might pony up and get the black one.
