I am wondering about this industry as well.
I am currently doing a degree in 3D Design (ID), I would like to move into the industry of Food & Alcohol. I am new to the industry so I would really appreciate any feedback you might be able to give me.
I am happy to work in an industry designing, crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, bottles (alcohol) glassware, packaging anything food related really. 
Romantically I have notions of creating a chocolate bar that remains popular for 30+ years, I think this would be an amazing achievement. Eg Mars, Snickers, Cherry Ripe (yum)
I imagine working closely with Chefs, creating products to suit new meals.
It really is an industry I love.
Can anyone tell me how I can get my foot in the door, or whom I might speak to within an organisation?
Eg as posted earlier Kraft/Cadbury/Oxo etc
Any advice in this area would be greatly appreciated.
