Normally I talk about the management skills you will gain. Project management, people management, process management, etc… In certain positions you gain valuable public speaking and press interview skills. Some people want that, some don’t. If you want to progress and especially if you are the lone designer in companies, as I have been several times, there are few other outlets to gain this type of experience.
