Started driving my parents Dodge Stratus when i was 16. Lucky for me this was about the same time as Will Farell doing the “I drive a Dodge Stratus!” skit. That was about the cars only saving grace.
Had to trade cars with my brother due to not being able to fit sports stuff in the car. I ended up with a 1992 Dodge Daytona ES. Wasnt really a terrible car, just no where near good. It did have the comfiest seats i have ever sat in (disregarding that it even had rear ‘seats’)
First ‘real’ car that I purchased with my own money. I needed a decent size, reliable car. Wasnt my first choice, but I got it from a dead guy for a steal (from his next of kin). Couldn’t really turn it down. It was a good car, and survived a lot of abuse. I moved more times than I want to count in it. After 6.5 years, I sold it to a 16 yr old girl who is already in the process of driving it tot he ground. I see her drive by every now and then and it is always so dirty. Poor, poor impala…
Current car: 2005 CTS Sport. I wish it was a V, but I cant afford it. I really enjoy the car, but it has its struggles. Still, Im not upset by this purchase (although it still hasnt snowed here, so I may ratify this statement next week after some lake effect.) I love heated seats in the morning.
Wifes car: 2004 Impreza wagon. I cant be positive, but I am pretty sure this is the Little Engine that Could. We have abused this little guy and it deals with everything. 2.5 L with Manual 5 speed, power windows, locks, spoiler, and nothing else. Seats are terribly stiff and plastic everywhere. I have moved an ikea sectional, king size beds, a 6’ x 12’ trailer, everything. As long as you dont care looking like the Griswolds’ station wagon, this car will move it. Most impressive was the 3 yards of mulch it did last summer (~2100 lbs). 0-30 mph time could have used a sundial, and stopping at a light required applying the brake 1/3 mile before the stop but damn if it didnt get us there.
How can anyone not read your post and not think that getting rid of that daytona was the worst move ever!! you should have found a crappier pic of that car, thats the sweetest pic of a daytona i have ever seen!
do you have any pics of the impala with the tiny tires? that still comes up in conversation every now and then…
i need to work on my own version of this thread.
