Great stuff guys! @choto: really good start with an eye catching presentation of your ideation sketches just in black silhouette style @nxakt: that’s a freaking scary alien super soaker concept @MasterBlaster: fantastic as always. looks like you are experimenting with charcoal and watercolor brushes? @holtag: i imagine that you can keep your biceps trained by carrying that double soda bottle soaker concept @sanjy009: looked like Rhino modeling to me at first sight. but cool that you can slide your arm into it @fede21us: love the storyboarding of it @SmartWorks: nice for the first time using SketchBookPro
I couldn’t resist joining this one. So I browsed through different types of super soakers and water guns, and also looking to some concept art of guns and rifles, and all inspired me to pick up my BIC ballpen and started sketching in my old and very empty sketchbook.
Sorry I didn’t monitor the time, as I got so focused on it, but I guess I spent more than an hour sketching 3 pages, but I only made a photo of one good page:
Then I placed it on top of a grunge paper background in PS, and added some basic coloring on the only perspective sketch that I did, based on the left sketch with the call outs:
I got into it and kind of went a bit over 1 hour and 20 minutes. I am a student so give me a break hehe but as I am doing a Sketch-A-Day I loved this great challenge. Lots of fun!!
soft plastic bubble bullets that on impact pop. The pump mechanism is to lock and load, and the blue handle has the trigger to fire.
@tarn- those are my sketching brushes from PS. Regular PS brush with some transfer and texture. I will upload the exact brushes Monday. @Waikit- nice! Long time no see
Soaker 2.0, “Wettling”, Sunday morning warmup. Stopped modeling at 30 minutes and rendered and composited for the next 35, just going over the time limit.
Inspired by MasterBlaster Iron Man chest repulsor comment, and distant memories of something from “The Mask” with every attempt to make it non-weaponized in appearance, (aside from the spherical pressure tanks of Biomarine’s MKI5 rebreather origin)
The nozzles don’t rotate, but the stream is cycled through the nozzles for a wider contact patch.
@MasterBlaster, modeling is done mostly in Rhino and rendered in Flamingo with a macro for all the views. @sanjyoo9, apologies for the similarity of arm mount concept. @Smartworks, District 9 rocks, the Weta workshop sells reproductions of the movie props, really cool stuff. Tribute in this design are nine nozzles and the inclined nozzle pressure reservoirs . @fede21us, great sketch, the pogo concept is brilliant.
@masterblaster: heheh thanks. glad to be back with sketches. @Nupky: exploding bullets rock! make them bigger @nxakt: that looks fun, but i actually like your previous alien style concept more.
allright, my last round. Did some ideas sketching within one hour I guess:
Here are the brushes I use for sketching. They are mostly intended for a 11x17 in 300 dpi document. Happy sketching- might post a video if I have time. http://db.tt/sEkIR7z
I will be submitting the entries of my up_id class . I will provide the name of the designer.
Whatever comments and feedback, I will surely deliver this to them.
P.S. Some of my students had problems accessing the net, so I will be sending it in their behalf.
