āNot aesthetically beautiful, but this emergency relief shelter comes fully equipped to sustain life all in a nice compact box. Maximized living space at varying size, the shelter caters to any group size of people. Cool! Love seeing when the small core community gets press elsewhere. Great job by all!

Why do I have to be the Belgian designer with the unusual ideas?
I think they meant it as a compliment ā¦
@ jlgrobe and harper432, great boards.
I see that someone else got inspired by the HESCO-system Cool!
to Yo, I was referring to the fact that the article refers to all the other designers with their respective names, but I am the Belgian designer And most of the time if Belgium is in the news itās not good Kinda funny
Great entries Impressive overall quality

I know, I was just teasingā¦ bummer, they must not have seen your full nameā¦
I stumbled across these three websites if anyone is looking for some cool ideas:

http://www.zendome.com/

The Michael Kilbane idea is very good and it was my favourite for a while.
Iād have to vote for Dylan Snowās idea though. The idea of maintaining the community is really improtant. Maintaining the community means the community would be able to provide support for itself and facilitate the dissemination of aid.
I canāt view Michael kilbaneās image no matter what. even tried direct link but it doesnāt show up.

can anyone send me a file or attach the image for it?
thanks!
Sorry about that, dbpuyo
Here is the link to my coroflot page Michael J kilbane, Industrial Design in Ireland .The image can be found there. I will also email it over to you.
Now I guess its time to vote. Firstly I would like to say that all the designs are impressive, and it was hard to narrow it down to just one. (Well done everyone ).
So the shelter design, Iām selecting is āThe box shelterā by jurrasix (James Sloss)
Well done

Congratz to Dan and Michael Killbane

Congratulations Dan well done, great design
All in all it was a nice challenge and it was an hour well spent by all.

Great work!!! Really enjoyed looking at the submissions, and Congrats to the Winner! Only wish I had contributed to the contest.
Did I miss the announcement of the winner?
Michael Kilbane, I think yours is a really clever approach. Envious that nothing even close to it came up in my quick thumbs.

Iāll start off by saying that I think this competition generated some really great concepts, showing true ingenuity and skills.
Having said that, I cannot help but wonder if we, through events such as this one, end up generating more good self esteem than actual results ā both on the side of the spectator (myself included) and that of the creators.
The question we need to ask ourselves is: will this competition end up serving those we intend to help?
Good intentions are undoubtably floating about in the design community, especially in times of crises. So I guess what Iām asking is: what can we designers do to ensure that our intentions have the impact they merit?
As it is, I think weāre serving ourselves more than those we actually want to help.
This 'question" deserves a topic of its own in general discussion. So please create it Iām sure there will be some interessting opinions/discussions.(far more interesting than the sneakers you bought because you couldnāt resist the looks)
I for one am fully aware of my ego. Itās big! But it is also part of my motivation.
" Do I really want to change things. Or do āIā really want to change things"
Please make the tread
