Yes this is great, the basics that everyone needs to effectively communicate product designs, nothing more, nothing less.
I have been realizing that we designers tend to fancy things up a bit too much, and in say 30% of the cases to lesser effect than just doing the minimal required for the job to be done. The color vibrancy here, noise effect, glares, DOF, fancy section drawings, soft vs hard highlights etc. sometimes get frowned upon by the seniors and clients who pay for the work.
I have not found that to be true personally. But everyone has different experiences.
