There are way to change the controls and more recent versions have added the view cube which is the traditional Autodesk navigation UI. But Alias still relies on the modifier key “chords” for the marking menus and view controls. In a way it induces terrible carpal tunnel, but theres also use in that those keys also act as the modifiers for snaps and all other hot keys, which means your left hand basically never needs to move.
You can modify the keys in the preferences but the hot key UI (along with all the menus) are dated and you have to type in your shortcuts “Alt+S”.
They’ve made some improvements, but most days it still feels like a SGI Unix tool from the 80’s.
