do you have any special workflow to import stl mesh from 3d scan and trace it in solidworks?
I found that its quite hard to control the mesh file, even positioning and orient it is hard.
@gregsonlucas: Unless you have Solidworks Premium, it has a plug in called “Scan to 3D”. If you don’t have that then there are several alternatives to go with but none are “easy”.
I’d first recommend either going back to the company that did the scan for you or if you own the scanner seeing if there is a better version of the software with which to convert the mesh to NURBS. If you need some further information let me know and I can at least point you in the right direction.
If this is a one time deal and is a file you can share let me know and I can convert it.
