What are 3D Models Made out of/How to Re-engineer 3d scans

Hi everyone. I posted this series of blog articles for our company blog awhile back, I thought the information would be relevant to ID folks here (especially with the recent UDK post, which is a game engine based on polies).

Part 1 (Polygons): http://lagoa.in/1lVQPwV

Part 2 (NURBs): http://lagoa.in/1hiIJsz

Part 3 (Subdivision Surfaces): http://lagoa.in/1nxl4vE

Part 4 (B-REP Solids): http://lagoa.in/1j8NXu4

Included are a bunch of informational examples. Cheers! :slight_smile:

I don’t want to clutter up the forum, but I thought this would be really useful for folks here; how to reverse engineer 3D scans using Rhino;

A very interesting read, its always great to learn new techniques. Although i knew they were differences in 3D softwares, i would not have been able to explain how they are different in such detail. Now i can!

Just subscribed to your blog BTW

Awesome, thank you! :slight_smile: Let me know if there’s any articles you’d like to see; I’m always looking for new ideas!
