Reading through both your posts - it sounds like Modern Man is just using Rhino for a combination of importing/exporting glitches when translating between applications, and that is fine - I have had similar issues where occasionally certain surfaces, especially small radii when exported from Pro E as a STEP will wind up with a surface patch that is trimmed backwards.

For those who can’t visualize, imagine bringing a perfectly good model into Rhino/Alias → untrimming a radius (so now you have this over-extended cylindrical surface) and trimming away the good part of the surface, leaving this strange, oddly extended quilt. Similarly, it is easier to rebuild those small patches in Alias (untrim, extend curve on surface, trim) to make them look correct in Alias or Keyshot than it is to figure out why Pro E isn’t cooperating.

Long story short - Non-native part translation for ALL 3D software is inherently imperfect. That’s why they call it translation - the chance of a minute tolerance or detail getting lost is always possible - whether or not it can be visually noticed is another story.
