IDSA SF | - Digging Deeper Workshop & Design Competition

Sustainable Frameworks Enabling Design Solutions to City-wide Problems.

The event is a workshop that walks through Gil Friend’s Natural Logic http://www.natlogic.com/ framework and then applies it to a problem set that’s dictated by Astrid Haryati, the Greening Director of the Mayor’s Office of San Francisco. The basis for the problem set is the Mayoral Executive Directive http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedfiles/sffood/policy_reports/MayorNewsomExecutiveDirectiveonHealthySustainableFood.pdf that Newsom issued on July 9th 2009 about Sustainable Food and Urban Agriculture. The problem is, no one knows how to implement this directive, the City has no money to do it through city dept.'s and governing bodies, and the community isn’t empowered to make the changes on its own.

The framework and problem set delivered here will be captured on video and become the basis for a competition that will be open to the national design communities of the IDSA, IxDA and AIGA and beyond.
The solutions generated from the competition will help the City of San Francisco become a healthier place and will act as scalable concepts for other cities.

The event is this Sunday - Sept. 27th. from 12:30 to 4:30pm
The competition will start a week later and last 6 weeks.
