Boston >>> Design events

One of my best friends and mentors is speaking there, Aaron Szymanski, about the work Evo Design did for Recycline… Aaron taught me most of what I know, so blame him…

Finally something at IDSA Boston that I can go to. I just got the flyer yesterday. Anyone else plan to attend?

I’ll be there of course.

Not so much of a design event, but pretty cool all the same.

River Gods, a bar in Cambridge is hosting a Garage Band Wii night with the creators of the game on Nov 25th at 9pm

It’s just a few blocks from my house and has become a bit of a regular spot for me.

I live in the same building as Jordan Nollman

And we were talking about getting the Boston ID happy hours rolling again…

Man, I’ll be up there in December, looks like I’m missing all the fun.

If this is a regular thing, I’ll come by for a few beers if it falls on a day I am visiting. cool.

Massachusetts College of art ‘and DESIGN’! Putting the DESIGN in the name of the school was a controversial subject when I was a student there. I’m glad the name finally evolved.

GURU

it was awhile ago now, but seemed like it was pretty good, I popped in just for a few to say hi, I was off to China the next day. I was glad to see the turn out was really good!

I’m going to check this out, thought I would share:

Yo- Did you make it to the MFA?.. I went for a stroll around and unbeknownst to me that event was a singles mingle night! :open_mouth:

That was quite the surprise. No where on the website did it have any mention of that…

So for future reference to any one thats interested, Friday Nights at the MFA Boston are singles nights?

I did, I did. Quite funny. I guess the full scoop is that it used to be singles night, and they are trying to open it up to a broader audience. A weird mix of couples, packs of girls, dudes scoping things out, and cougars on the prowl. It was a great night for people watching. We got a few drinks and hung out for a bit before checking out the new shows… did you see the room filled with looked like about 300 doll houses?

The woman at the ticket counter was still selling it as a single’s event.

I definitely people watched hardcore… I kept watching one dude go from one pack of girls to the next getting denied each time. Too funny.

Almost missed the dark room filled with the doll houses, I came close to walking right by without noticing. It was hidden behind a black curtain, luckily there was a little lady pointing to go in… it was quite intriguing.

Did you get a chance to check out the plans for the new addition? I can’t wait for it to be done, mostly for the wonderful construction (that i get to look at every day) to go away, but it will be a nice update to the museum…

Not really a design event, but we checked out the Walter Gropius house a couple of weeks ago, they have tours every weekend. The tour was great:

If you go, check out the DeCordova Museum right down the street: there is an amazing show up right now called Drawn To Detail

I’ve also been building up my list of favorite things in and around Boston, incomplete and on going of course:

No, you don’t have to be a member, and I believe there is student pricing…
