Neville Page is internationally recognized for his character and creature design in numerous films such as James Cameron's Avatar (2009) and J.J. Abram's Star Trek (2009). His ability to create mythical anatomy, believable surface detail and personality through his drawings allows the audience to identify with the character and immerse itself in an alternate reality. The Beauty in the Beastpresents original designs from blockbuster films he has worked on such as Prometheus(2012), Super 8 (2011), Green Lantern (2011) and Tron (2010), among others. These works showcase Page's use of traditional media as well as digital tools such as Photoshop and Zbrush to create fantastic creatures and exotic characters. Featuring early pencil sketches to final digital concepts and 3D models, this exhibition explore Page's complex developmental design process.
Experience Page's character design process, from concept to completion, during Artists @ Work on Saturday, January 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Page will give a private tour of the exhibition and provide an educational demonstration exploring his creative process. Tickets, including admission to the Closing Reception, are $15 for OMA members and $20 for nonmenbers. Seating is limited for this event, reservations are required by calling (760) 435-3721.

IDSD Happy Hour at BJ's Brewhouse (Wednesday Jan 30th @ 5:30pm)
Hi Everyone - Hope you had a fantastic holiday and your new year is off to a great start. We will continue our IDSD happy hour meet-ups on the last Wednesday of every month. I've posted the first 5 locations of 2013 below. Next week we're meeting at BJ's Brewhouse.
For those of you who have not been to one yet, it's simply a very casual get together of like-minded (not always though, HA!) San Diego Industrial Designers. The goal is to bring the local design community together and strengthen relationships that will benefit each of us personally and professionally. There are now 90 people in this group and most of them are in San Diego. Did you know there were 90+ id'ers in SD?!?! I didn't either before starting IDSD two years ago AND that's the reason I did. If you haven't been to an IDSD happy hour yet, make it one of your 2013 resolutions.
Who's in this month?
Best - Chris
