I'm going to Japan tomorrow!
I want to do my junior fall semester abroad in Japan next year (for ID at CMU.)
I was wondering if anyone knew of good ID/design schools in Japan. I'll be in Kanagawa prefecture, so if there are any in that area, hopefully I can check them out in person :D

Thank you!

There are many good schools in Japan for ID, but many of them have different areas of expertise/lean.

Tokyo Geidai (University of Arts) has a design department : http://www.geidai.ac.jp/english/art/design.html
Musashino Art University is also prestigious and has produced some designers like Fumie Shibata : http://www.musabi.ac.jp/english/
Chiba University also has a renown design department: http://www.eng.chiba-u.ac.jp/e-grad-school12.html
Also check out Tama University: http://www.tamabi.ac.jp/english/dept/index.htm

Anyways those are off the top of my head universities that are pretty big into design.

Thank you for your reply!

Unfortunately the only school that has a formal exchange agreement with Carnegie Mellon at this time is Zokei University (Nagoya.)
I don't know much about it, but the schools I seem to hear more about are those that you listed. After some more research, hopefully I can find a way to do a semester abroad at one of those schools, regardless of a formal exchange agreement.
