now i’ve got the customary toy forum post stuff our of the way.

Does anyone know of any resources or good examples of child-friendly fastenings which actually work?

To be more descriptive - nuts and bolts or other methods of joining things together which children can operate easily, yet can support the child’s weight and hold up to some sort of stress.

Example - a ‘build-your-own’ chair kit - how would the child join the bits together?

Any help or directions to help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Ed

Nice website

If you could develop the joinery such that, it will only go together one way and when it’s in place it can’t slip out. I’m thinking of a slotted connection with a snap lock or something. It’s a tough one, because all the joints have to be secured by the child. Unless you pump up the age requirements to something like an Erector Set or Mechano or something…
