I recommend a 3D printer.

As for toys, a gyrotwister (made in Germany).

As for survival, drinking water and doing sports has helped me do lots of extra high-energy hours!

Also, flipover sheets, a good digital camera (I recommend the Canon Ixus 160) and lots of Post-its.
