What does it mean to live within borders?

Through the 20th century, the influence of globalisation has made itself felt through commerce, war, and the travel of people, goods, and ideas. In the 21st century, rather than slowing down, the rate of globalisation has sped up and changed the nature of how we see the world, communities, cultures, and ourselves. Just as we have had impact on the world, so the influence of the world has changed us. One aspect of this is the spread of globalised terrorism, but so is the increasingly interwoven digital nature of the online with our everyday lives. Conversely, communities and nations are increasingly closing down our borders and movement, as a way of protecting us from the perceived threats of the outside and alien.
