Can you post more of the design brief and the direction you’re going with?

For a product like this, it seems to me like the operation of the printer would drive a lot of the design. Or is the kiosk only a sales kiosk and the shoes gets printed elsewhere and shipped to the customer (manufacturing a custom shoe would take hours with most current techniques and doing it off site could allow for more traditional techniques to be used a long side printing)?

The specificity of the printer would put some limits on the form of the shoe. The first thing that comes to mind with a 3D printed shoe is that you can customize the shape of the shoe, not just the visuals. So I think your designs that integrate a foot scanner make a lot of sense. Off the top of my head, some kind of gate analyzing thread mill might provide some useful information too. Designing a line of shoe for the machine would be really cool as well, but it might be beyond the scope of the class.

Next, I’d look into the UX of the kiosk. How does the user pick the shoe he wants from what’s possible? I think having samples available to the public would be great. Not only of the shoe but of the materials. I also think having curated options would help the user from feeling overwhelmed by choice. IE you pick a main colour of burnt orange, the machine would give you 5 colours that work really well with your main colour on top of giving you all the available colours.

I feel like the kiosk should represent the brand you create and the actual product, the shoe, more than be something that stands by itself.

Add people. Scale is everything. + use scenario.

Louis,
It will most likely be just a sales kiosk, but im not exactly sure. We are designing for 2030, are team is still in the early stage of this project so we havent went over the Ux. I will definitely keep all of the information you’ve given me into consideration. I really appreciate your time to give me advice and tips.

Thank you,
Rus

Richard,

I definitely will do that, especially for this project it will explain a lot more. looking back at my sketches you really cant tell size and scale without people. It s very important to show scale in this type of project and i completely forgot to put that.

Thank you,
Rus

Thanks LB! I definitely need to work on it more and more. I appreciate you checking my work out!

I recently found some sketches I did when I was about 11/12 years old, I decided to re-sketch/ design them. I definitely had lots of fun these past couple a days. Let me know what you guys think! I am open to any comments or critiques, I would really appreciate it!!

Thank you for your time,
