Have you considered or researched delivery services like Amazon Fresh? Or seen the korean market in subway video demo on youtube? Also, in Korea, its normal to have your food delivered to your house because of people's busy schedules and lives. Cuts away the traveling time and cost and streamlines the experience for the consumer.

Now to actually answer your question. I think as a kiosk, one idea is something like this. Today there are restaurants at say the mall or a food truck at a park. By 2030, if these kiosks could be universal and be in every popular location. It could potentially be a well-integrated automated food order and delivery system at every imaginable location. A glorified vending machine.

Scenario:
1. User goes to park.
2. Is feeling hungry.
3. Walks up to the kiosk.
4. User scans the kiosk to see if they have anything available then and there.
5. If available, user pays and their food pops out.
6. If unavailable, user is shown restaurants and foods nearby that can be delivered to his current location.
7. User picks the food he wants, pays, and submits his order.
8. Kiosk tells him it will arrive in 5 minutes.
9. Kiosk pops out "coaster", similar to the vibrating coasters we get at cheesecake factory right now, when our table is ready.
(This coaster can be a product design opportunity. It could be an actual product, or you can include a vibrating function to the user's phone, no app, just notification. Don't take coaster literally, instead think of it as a product that alert and notifies the user that their food has arrived at the park.)
10. Coaster vibrates.
11. User picks up the food
(Another product design opportunity for what the package for the food looks like)
12. User enjoys food at the park.

Product design opportunities in above user scenario.
1. Kiosk design.
2. "Coaster" design.
3. Food package design.

Of course. The Kiosk and Coaster could all be an app on the phone… but thats against the rules :)

Plus with the kiosk you can also work on branding and show how all the kiosks work together. Show the back end design as well. Another benefit of the kiosk is that, if it is a glorified vending machine, it has two functions. ONE pop out food thats already in the kiosk, and TWO allow the user to get a specific food delivered to the kiosk's location. With a physical kiosk, the user doesn't need to share any of their location data or other personal data. Food is ordered at the kiosk and delivered to the kiosk. User knows where to pick it up and when it will come. Maybe the kiosk itself could recognize who ordered what, so when you approach the kiosk and your food hasn't arrived yet, it could show time remaining on screen.

Just some thoughts, hope it helps :)

I just had another idea!

After work scenario.
1. User is feeling hungry.
2. User walks up to the kiosk at his work.
3. Sees if anything available whets his appetite.
4. Nothing he likes. He pays and submits his order.
5. He changes the delivery location to the kiosk at his home.
6. When he arrives at home there is a package at his footsteps.
(The kiosk knows the distance from his work and home and delivers on time)
7. User enjoy hot food.

At home scenario.
1. User is feeling hungry.
2. User walks up to his refrigerator.
3. HIS REFRIGERATOR IS THE KIOSK! *Mind Blown*
4. Refrigerator shows whats available on the inside.
5. Refrigerator also has the ability to combine the food inside and recommend makable dishes.
6. User doesn't like anything thats inside.
7. User orders something.
8. Food arrives to his home.

Man… I kind of want to do this project myself now. :<

Thanks Sketchroll!

This was also one of our ideas that we pondered, however, ours was inspired more on the growing food truck events and incorporating something along those lines into the project. We settled on an autonomous vehicle concept that is really interesting, and it has turned into more of a UI/UX project now rather than the typical large kiosk that has come out of the class for the past years.

I just put together a portfolio that I was asked to send out to a footwear company regarding internship opportunities and I put it up on Behance. https://www.behance.net/Apowers I'd love any feedback on what I could add onto the portfolio, and what I can improve upon in my own skillsets.

Just wanted to give a quick thanks to the board for all the feedback over the past year and a half, on Monday I received the fantastic news that I'll be interning with Under Armour in Portland this summer with the footwear innovation team. I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity!

Hey all,

I'm incredibly excited to get back to this thread and continue to share my journey. My internship at Under Armour was a life changing experience and I'm ready to work even harder to get where I want to be. My vision is set at Google X and I'm going to do anything I can to reach that goal.

I'm going to open up a project thread within the next few days for my studio project this semester and keep this thread specifically for sketching.

Doing roughly 40-60 pages of sketches per week (3+ per page) on 11x17 paper, but I'm going to start editing and composing images for the boards to better present my work. I'll be uploading every Saturday/Sunday. These sketches are working on line quality, proportion, composition and material thickness indication. Also, each week should be adding more detail into the sketches.

Week 1: Cameras (Blue marker is instructor)

Week 2: Cameras and Phones

This week was kitchen goods, focusing again on material thickness, material indication, and of course proportion and perspective. Definitely a rough week as far as getting objects to look right.

Good work Aaron and great progress! It'd be great to see overlays using pencil, cool gray markers and some color touches, that could really pump up the sketches!

Nice stuff Aaron. I can tell the sketching is becoming second nature. Once you get skilled enough at sketching, you think less about the sketch and more about the idea, and really that is the goal. To become so fluent in visual communication that your mind is only focused on the concept.

Thanks Michael and Alejandro!

I'll be mixing in some marker this week, the topic is power tools this week.

I'm definitely getting the hang of sketching, but like you said, looking at some of these sketches make me feel a bit silly. I showed these to one of my instructors and he started asking me how they work, and made me realize that I've completely neglected the ideas and uses of the products. This week I'm going to work on understanding how things work and implementing them into my sketches.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks guys!

The past two weeks we have been doing some soft goods sketches and man am I having a tough time!

We had a sub come in from Samsung and he really didn't like how much marker I was putting down on the page. Definitely something I've always struggled with.
