The crumpet setting works really well - there is an image on top of the toaster next to the slot to show the correct orientation of the crumpet. Then one side of the element works hotter than the other side so that you dont burn the base of the crumpet.

As for voltage, 220-240. Not sure about the rated wattage.

Well, I haven't used KitchenAid so I can't say anything about it! I have been using Oster for more than 2 years and the result is really very impressive.
