Because they hate you?
It builds character?
your tenured professor is old school?

Look at it this way, it’s a learning experience (you are in school after all) and there are plenty of good things to take from the art of analog photography. That being said, you will most likely spend the rest of your life with digital photography.

When I was in school they made learn drafting…mechanical pens and all. Many people grumbled about it then, but I learned how to do a proper 3 view drawing and have come across many a designer that doesn’t know the first thing about it and it caused problems working with certain vendors.

You will spend your whole career learning and adapting to new technology and techniques. ID is a field with a tremendous number of tools, skills, specializations, etc. And that’s just what we know today, not what is coming down the pipeline.

Don’t dismiss all the variety, embrace it.
