If anyone still has interest in this thread, I have a quick question. I’ve built 3 prototypes now and am a little confused on how to proceed. It costs me around 25-40 to make(using birch plywood), excluding any labor costs because I don’t really know how to value them. I was thinking about just making several of them on my own but I know I could get MUCH better craftsmanship having them manufactured on a short run basis.
My main question is whether or not it is really feasible to license. No one is going to license for “the brand name”. I don’t have the funds to produce large quantities so I kind of feel like I’m stuck. Any suggestions? The target market is 18-25 masses, and they generally don’t have a big discretionary furniture budget.
I also don’t have much of an idea on how to approach manufacturers. I think my best bet would be a local independent furniture maker but unfortunately there aren’t too many around. I live in Arkansas for what it’s worth.
