I don't get it. Did he run out of power or something? Is it that completely unstable and difficult to control that he could t make it across the lake?

I was curious about the propulsion too. Are there small rotors? Jets of air? Hmmm.

Looks to me like an octocopter, with the blades on the bottom of the arms. As for him crashing, as he was going for a distance record, I guess he just ran the batteries empty.
