Bitt - A new unit to mesure time based on sun

Hi this is my first post here.
I’m still a student and this is one of the project I prefer most, with my group we went from a crazy idea to a physical working product, passing thought, branding, advertising, prototype etc…

I leave to all of you the description of the project, it was made for an Italian science museum.

Do you know that Sunlight takes 8 minutes to reach Earth? We orbit the Sun at a distance of about 150 million km. Light moves at 300,000 kilometers/second. Divide these and you get 500 seconds. Or 8 minutes and 20 seconds. But Earth follows an elliptical orbit around the Sun, ranging from 147 million to 152 million km. At its closest point, sunlight only takes 490 seconds to reach Earth. And then at the most distant point, it takes 507 seconds for sunlight to make the journey. An Average of 8 minutes. Bitt uses this natural event as inspiration for its concept: a digital hourglass that gives you constant visual feedback of the passing of time using this natural time frame of traveling sunlight.
