I am working on a toy design with an illustrator. Do you think it will help the 3d artist/modeler/industrial designer if the illustrator delivers his work in vector format or it doesn’t matter?
Vector format is always appreciated. Why have flattened graphics when you can have re-editable, scalable, measurable graphics?
Yes to vector always. It’s just more useful information. For example, if it’s a logo or something I can input that info directly into CAD and make geometry from that.
It’s probably helpful to deliver both vector and a jpg image. Vector for the reason mentioned above, the ID’er may want to directly import some curves. But it’s also common to use a jpg image as a backdrop image for a sketch in the CAD software, to trace over.
