Product Manager Resources

I’m researching a product management role for a prototyping company, and have a question related to resources that a PM would need to be more successful in this type of role. Are there key capabilities or resources that anyone could recommend for such a position? Prototyping, CNC Machining, and Injection Molding are the three largest industry segments that the company supports.

I’ve been covering the 10K report and other industry searches but if anyone could shed some light on this question, I would really appreciate it?

Thank you,

JV

Understanding the inputs the company will get - CAD files of every shape and format - and being literate in the latest stuff will be helpful. Materials knowledge will also be helpful - salespeople frequently (in my experience) have to bring in technical expertise to trouble-shoot problems or answer tricky customer questions.
