Do we have a case of eco-fatigue?

I agree with you. If you are looking for a good word; I like to use ecological. Sustainability (def) providing for the necessities of this generation without risking future generations to do the same. So when I here a designer say, “my product is made out of recycled material so its sustainable”; it makes me cringe. Recycling is not always sustainable it is mostly just retarding the process of things going to a land fill. And the word eco-friendly is also highly green-washed. If an oil company decides to recycle a piece of paper it starts to market itself as “eco-friendly.” To me ecological sounds like someone actually put time into thinking how an artifact interacts throughout its life with the natural world.
