It seems so, but hey -nothing stops me from posting what I’ve found thus far, maybe someone will loook for it in the future.

Hi!
I actually didn’t study here, I studied in Spain, where I come from and also in Turkey through the Erasmus programme. However, I’ve been between Germany and Austria for the last year and a half and I could give you some insights.
Kunst Universitat Vienna and Kunst Universitat Linz are good product design university, the one in Vienna is better but the living costs are lower in Linz. The you have a really good transportation design / ID school in Graz, FH Joanneum. It’s a technical university (FH is for the technical universities) but they do really cool projects. Graz is the student city here in Austria and Vienna is quite fun too, so those would be the best choices here.
On the other hand, you have much more to choose from in Germany. Folkwang Uni of Arts has a good product design programme, it’s in Essen which is a pretty good city. I was doing an internship at WILDDESIGN there (it’s nearby) and most of my colleagues had studied there. You can find one of the best bachelors of product design in Schwabish Gmund, the HFG Gmuend. The bad side of this one is that the town is pretty small. There’s a top transportation school in Pforzheim, the HS-Pforzheim. Then there are good schools in Berlin as well, in Stuttgart and in Munich, but I really don’t know any about these. I would suggest you check the reddot and if design rankings for schools, and take a look to those. In general, there’s a pretty good level in the German schools, and any major city has an uni with an ID programme. Munich, Hamburg and Stuttgart are the most expensive cities in Germany, being Hamburg and Berlin the ones where you can find the most fun.
